The goal of all discipline is to develop patterns, habits and choices which result in behavior that is pleasing to God.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
That the child might develop a life-style in conformity with God's Word.
It's "training that molds character" and reveals love (Proverbs 3:12). Discipline is not punishment; punishment is a process of discipline. Discipline motivates students to learn. Discipline teaches self-control. Discipline sets limits for the child's own good.
